Orlando ERCES Installation: What You Need To Know

If you’re looking for the best signal-boosting solutions, Orlando ERCES installation from DynaFire is the way to go. Here’s why.

Your commercial property needs to have strong communication signals in any part of the building. Not only does the ability to communicate over emergency radios enable first responders to quickly and efficiently respond in urgent situations, but a minimum level of signal strength is required by Fire & Life Safety code and state and local mandates. Whether you need Orlando ERCES installation for a newly-constructed property or you’re searching for the best retrofitter in town, we’re here to help.

Quick Facts About Orlando ERCES Installation

What is an ERCES?

ERCES is an acronym for ‘Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement System,’ and we’re just glad we don’t have to type the whole thing out in this blog. You may have also heard these systems referred to as BDAs (Bi-Directional Amplifiers) or DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems).

Building materials like concrete, metal, low-E glass windows, and underground structures negatively impact two-way radio frequencies emergency responders use, and an ERCES is the answer.

Why do you need an ERCES?

One great example of how an ERCES works is to think of your home wifi system. There are usually a few spots in your home where you can’t stream your favorite show in hi-def without watching the video buffer every few seconds, and any people will use wifi range extenders to increase their coverage in their homes.

An ERCES is a similar concept, but for radio frequencies that emergency responders’ radios operate on. When first responders use their portable radios inside a building, they can communicate with each other as well as their central dispatch – as long as the signal is strong. Inadequate signal strength requires these signal-boosting systems to be installed on your property so that the appropriate signal strength is achieved.

Once an ERCES is installed, communication from radios travels through the antenna system, signal boosters, and exterior antennas to a radio repeater and then to central dispatch. Any communication can also be heard by other emergency responders on the same communication channel.

What Building Types Need ERCES?

Buildings that may require an ERCES include any structure that is identified and inspected under local ordinances. While many properties may be able to meet minimum signal strength requirements, there are many others that cannot, whether it is because of the materials used in the building, the design, or the overall size. These often include:

  • Apartment buildings
  • Airport terminals
  • Parking garages
  • Convention centers
  • Hospitals
  • Manufacturing plants
  • Stadiums
  • Arenas
  • And more
