Determining Which Commercial Fire Sprinkler System Is The Best Fit For Your Facility

Figuring out which commercial fire sprinkler system you need can seem like a daunting process. That’s why you can count on us to determine which system is the best fit for your property.

Having a well-maintained commercial fire sprinkler system is not only mandatory in commercial structures, but also essential for the future of your operation. We’re breaking down the different sprinkler systems below to inform you of the options we have available:

Wet Systems

  • Attached to a piping system that constantly fills water from a water supply
  • Automatically dispenses water when fire is detected
  • Designed for environments that maintain a consistent temperature above 40 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Not ideal for protecting sensitive equipment
  • The most recommended commercial fire sprinkler system

Dry Systems

  • Filled with pressurized nitrogen or air rather than water
  • The release of the air permits the water pressure to open the dry pipe valve, causing the water to flow into the piping system and out of the sprinkler heads
  • Designed where freezing temperatures (below 40 degrees Fahrenheit) can be expected
  • Most commonly installed in attics, loading docks, commercial freezers, etc.

Pre-Action Systems

  • Contains an electronically-operated valve that controls the water that goes into the piping system
  • Similar to a dry system, except the sprinklers are closed
  • Water does not flow out of the pre-action system until heat activates the operating element in each individual sprinklers
  • Typically seen in facilities that house high-value equipment, such as MRI rooms, computer rooms, art museums, etc.

Deluge Systems

  • A fire sprinkler system that is installed in the same areas as sprinklers, but is only opened by the operation of a detection system
  • Once the valve is open, water begins to flow into the piping system and is released from all attached sprinklers
  • Most commonly used where large quantities of water are required to quickly control a fire
  • Can be found in power plants, aircraft hangers, chemical storage, processing facilities, etc.
