Got some burning questions about our fire services? We’re here to extinguish them with our answers to give you a better understanding of the different fire services we offer.
Q: What Fire Services Do I Need For My Commercial Building?
A: Depending on the type of building or where it’s located, you may be required to have specific fire services. This is according to the compliance codes set forth by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
There are national standards, NFPA 13 and NFPA 25, that have been established to provide consistency to every aspect of Fire & Life Safety, including fire sprinkler system design, repair, and installation.
In Florida, NFPA 101 states what buildings need to be protected with a sprinkler system. If a property is required to have a sprinkler system, NFPA 13 and NFPA 25 dictate how Fire & Life Safety companies, like DynaFire, are to install and maintain it.
Q: Do You Have Any Tips To Help Maintain My Business Sprinkler System?
A: Yes, it’s always important that you look after your fire sprinkler system. For these systems to do their job, they must be well maintained and 100% functional at all times. Here are four tips for maintaining these systems with ease:
- Perform a physical inspection to ensure everything looks intact – check the sprinkler heads for paint, dust, or obstructions. If you see any of these signs, let us know when we come to the inspection so we can make note.
- Inspect all control valves – make sure all control valves are open, accessible, properly locked in place, and free from any leakage; examine the water and air pressure gauges to double-check they are showing normal ranges.
- Remove anything that’s closer than 18 inches from the height of the sprinklers.
- Always keep some extra sprinkler heads on hand – we recommend at least six extra heads at your facility, along with the corresponding wrench for each type.
Q: How Often Should I Get A Professional Fire Inspection?
A: The answer to this question varies depending on your commercial building systems and local regulations. As a full-service fire inspection company, we can provide various fire services, including mandatory fire inspections for all of our clients’ essential protection systems. If you aren’t sure when your last inspection was, log into DynaLink which is our client portal so you can see when your last inspection was and when your next one will be.
