These inspections must be documented, and the records need to be retained and available for at least one year after the last entry, or the life of the extinguisher, whichever is shorter.

What To Look For During A Monthly Jacksonville OSHA Fire Extinguisher Inspection 

Even though this inspection isn’t documented, it still needs to be thorough. You’ll want to be checking for a few things:

• The extinguisher is in the proper location
• The extinguisher is both visible and accessible
• Operating instructions are present and visible
• There are no signs of tampering or other physical damage
• The pressure indicator shows that it’s within the correct pressure range
