As the Engineering Manager for our fire alarm company, you will lead a team of engineers and technicians responsible for designing, developing, and managing fire detection and alarm systems projects. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all relevant safety and quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project management, sales, and customer support, to ensure solutions meet client needs and regulatory compliance.
Your role also involves developing engineering processes, mentoring staff, and driving innovation in fire alarm system design and integration.
-Lead and manage the engineering department, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance feedback to engineers and technicians.
-Develop and implement strategies for optimizing team performance and enhancing technical capabilities.
-Oversee staff scheduling, workload distribution, and project allocation to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
-Manage the design and engineering phases of fire alarm system projects from conception to completion.
-Collaborate with project managers to ensure clear communication of engineering needs and project timelines.
-Oversee the development of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA, UL, and local authority regulations.
-Ensure that all designs are safe, efficient, and meet customer and regulatory requirements.
-Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and documentation prepared by the engineering team.
-Ensure all fire alarm systems are designed to meet national and local fire safety regulations and codes (e.g., NFPA 72, local fire marshal codes).
-Stay current with fire alarm technologies, building codes, and industry regulations to ensure continuous compliance and innovation.
-Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to discuss project specifications, budgets, and timelines.
-Provide technical expertise and support to sales and marketing teams for proposal preparation and client presentations.
-Maintain strong client relationships and ensure their satisfaction with the engineering services provided.
-Develop and implement standardized engineering processes to improve operational efficiency.
-Research and integrate new technologies and methodologies to enhance fire alarm system design and performance.
-Identify and lead cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.
