3 Measures We Follow For Maintaining Your Tampa Fire Sprinkler Systems

Unfortunately, installing Tampa fire sprinkler systems isn’t a one and done deal. We’re sharing three measures our technicians follow while maintaining them and making sure their functionality is up to speed.

1. We Inspect All Non-Electrical Valves

Many older Tampa fire sprinkler systems have non-electronically supervised valves that are used to distribute water. It’s critical that these valves are functional and open in the event of an emergency, otherwise, they’re useless. While this is something we check during an inspection, it’s a required action per NFPA 25 for business owners to give these systems a quick glance monthly to ensure they’re open and ready for activation. If you desire, our technicians can inspect these valves monthly along with your electric fire pumps.

However, not all systems have non-electronically supervised valves. If your building has a newer system that contains electronically supervised control valves, this is something that will be inspected during your quarterly inspections. If you notice your fire sprinkler systems’ valves don’t look as they should, contact us to let us know so we can give you a professional opinion.

2. We Look For Non-Manufacturer Applied Coating On Each Sprinkler Head

Tampa Fire Sprinkler SystemsIf your fire sprinkler system has never been used, consider that a win! Although, this also most likely means that dust and dirt could have formed a coating over your sprinkler heads. This is something we look to remove during maintenance for safety measures. If you have recently renovated, paint may have gotten on sprinkler heads. This cannot be removed, the heads would have to be replaced.

Commercial kitchens and factories are highly susceptible to coatings due to the nature of their environment where grease accumulates. In order to prevent these things from happening, be sure to dust frequently and wipe them down with non-residue, non-corrosive degreasing solution.

3. We Check The Water Pressure Flow

What are Tampa fire sprinkler systems without solid water pressure? It’s vital for these systems to have a reliable, sufficient water supply in order to reach the span of the fire in full, as well as have enough pressure to extinguish it at its surface. It would be in your building’s best interest to have the water pressure checked quarterly to ensure it will work if the time comes.

It’s also not unlikely for valves to accidentally be turned off, so this is a problem you can squash before it becomes severe. You can have a mostly shut valve or obstruction in the underground, and high pressure, the main drain lets us know that everything is good by the residual pressure. Simply looking at the gauge does no good.

If you’re searching Tampa fire sprinkler systems for maintenance purposes or installation, we can help with either! Contact us today to schedule an appointment.
